Beginner: MacLeod Memorial Trophy
Sponsored By: Robin MacRae, Steven MacRae and Kendra Roettjer
The MacLeod Memorial Trophy is awarded in honor of Angus MacLeod, one of the founders of the SHDA, and his daughter, SHDA Life Member, Betty MacLeod Hegge. Betty spent many years as SHDA secretary, and many more years as a volunteer and general supporter of highland dancing in the Seattle area.
Four of Angus’ granddaughters danced highland, Kim and Judy MacLeod, and Karen and Robin Hegge. Robin became a teacher, and taught six of his great-grandchildren, Kendra Roettjer, who is a teacher, Steven MacRae, who is a teacher, RSOBHD judge, and an SDTA examiner, Kelsey Hegge Morgan, Shannon MacRae Dutton, Alyssa MacRae Wagner, and Kari Hegge-Payne. Now his great-great granddaughter, Ella Rae Dutton is dancing. Wouldn’t Angus and Betty be proud?!
